Flood fight coordinators have been hard pressed to drum up volunteers to fill the one million sandbags needed ahead of high water. But the thin ranks of workers has been bolstered by students on spring break from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. In town to help start up a new church, the 20 students and their chaperones responded to the call for help.
Tommy Johnson says the Kentuckian's heard about Fargo's valiant fight last spring and are ready to do what they can to help now.
Volunteer are still needed at sandbag central. Hours are 8am to 8pm. Show up at the coliseum and you will be bussed to the site. Most of the work filling sandbags so far has been heavily reliant on city employees pulled off their regular duties.
